API Management Tips & Tricks – Importing Swagger 2.0 Docs

API Management (APIM) offers many features for consumers to use by providing a unified endpoint. In order to achieve this consolidation, importing existing API definitions is one of its key functionalities. APIM supports both document types in WADL and Swagger to import APIs. In this post, we’re going to discuss what we should know when dealing with Swagger documents.

The Issue

Importing Swagger document into APIM is pretty straight forward by following this Azure document.… [Keep reading] “API Management Tips & Tricks – Importing Swagger 2.0 Docs”

Implementing Application with Office 365 Graph API in App-only Mode

Microsoft has recently release Microsoft Graph to easily integrate Office 365 resources with applications. Graph API basically provides one single endpoint to call bunch of Web APIs to get access Office 365 resources.

In order to use Graph API from another application, the application must be registered in Azure Active Directory (AAD) first. When the application is registered, we can choose how the application is permitted to use resources – application permissions or delegate permissions. The latter one typically requires users to provide user credentials like username and password to get a proper access token.… [Keep reading] “Implementing Application with Office 365 Graph API in App-only Mode”

Creating a simple nodejs API on AWS (including nginx)

On a recent project I was part of a team developing an AngularJS website with a C# ASP.NET backend API hosted in Azure.  It was a great project as I got to work with a bunch of new tools, but it got me wondering on how simple it could be to use a Javascript API instead.  That way the entire development stack would be written in Javascript.

And so a personal project was born.  To create a simple JS API and get it running in the cloud.… [Keep reading] “Creating a simple nodejs API on AWS (including nginx)”

Creating Service Contract with AutoRest, Swagger and HAL

According to Richardson Maturity Model, REST API level 3 should provide hypermedia within responses as metadata, so that users can easily navigate to other resources. This is particularly important if Microservices architecture (MSA) is considered for your service or application. Because MSA is a collection of small REST API services, each API server should provide complete set of documents or manuals for others to consume it properly. In order to provide document automation, Swagger is one of the best choices, and HAL, in order to provide hypermedia within the response, is also yet another option.… [Keep reading] “Creating Service Contract with AutoRest, Swagger and HAL”

Programmatically interacting with Yammer via PowerShell – Part 2

In my last post I foolishly said that part 2 would be ‘coming in the next few days’. This of course didn’t happen, but I guess it’s better late than never!

In part 1 which is available here, I wrote how it was possible to post to a Yammer group via a *.ps1 using a ‘Yammer Verified Admin’ account. While this worked a treat, it soon became apparent that this approach had limited productivity rewards.… [Keep reading] “Programmatically interacting with Yammer via PowerShell – Part 2”

Sharing HTTP sessions between WebView requests and HttpClient on Windows Phone

Introduction

I have been working on a hybrid mobile application that requires displaying/containing a few mobile apps in a WebView control. In the background, some HTTP requests need to go through to collect data and do further processing. We need to maintain the same session in all of the web requests going through the mobile app. This means all web (HTTP) requests originated by the Webview as well as our background (HttpClient) requests need to share cookies, cache, etc.… [Keep reading] “Sharing HTTP sessions between WebView requests and HttpClient on Windows Phone”

Programmatically interacting with Yammer via PowerShell – Part 1

For my latest project I was asked to automate some Yammer activity. I’m first to concede that I don’t have much of a Dev background, but I instantly fired up PowerShell ISE in tandem with Google only to find…well not a lot! After a couple of weeks fighting with a steep learning curve, I thought it best to blog my findings, it’s good to share ‘n all that!

It’s worth mentioning at the outset, if you want to test this out you’ll need an E3 Office 365 Trial and a custom domain.

Let’s Hack It: Securing data on the mobile, the what, why, and how

Here is the presentation of tonight’s talk. It was great to see so many passionate developers and business people at Melbourne Mobile. I have embedded the slides below and I hope you find it useful.

Talk Summary

This presentation is basically a summary of what I have learned and the experience I have had going through my recent project. In trying to secure the users data on the mobile device, I have come to learn quite few common flaws in the security implementation, I have learned more reasons why you need to protect the data on your mobile app, and have come to know and use few useful open source projects.… [Keep reading] “Let’s Hack It: Securing data on the mobile, the what, why, and how”

Connecting Salesforce and SharePoint Online with Azure App Services

Back in November I wrote a post that demonstrated how we can integrate Salesforce and SharePoint Online using the MuleSoft platform and the MuleSoft .NET Connector. In this post I hope to achieve the same thing using the recently released into preview Azure App Services offering.

Azure App Services

Azure App Services rebrands a number of familiar service types (Azure Websites, Mobile Services, and BizTalk Services) as well as adding a few new ones to the platform.… [Keep reading] “Connecting Salesforce and SharePoint Online with Azure App Services”
